For its perseverance and resilience, Diario El Día awarded the Ignacio Domeyko award to the Dominga project, arguing that, despite not having started its construction, mainly for political reasons, it is still present, collaborating closely with the community, always ensuring the well-being of people and the sustainable development of the Coquimbo Region.

The ceremony was held as part of the celebration of the newspaper’s 80th anniversary, an opportunity in which local people and companies were also highlighted for their contribution in different areas. Among them, Adriana Peñafiel, Luis Carmona, Felipe Del Río, Industrias Celta and Inmobiliaria Elqui.

“On behalf of those who work in Dominga and the community of La Higuera, who are our partners and have strongly supported us, I want to thank this distinction that fills us with satisfaction, and commits us to continue working for the benefit of the families of this region,” said Pedro Ducci, General Manager of Andes Iron, who reiterated the interest in 21st century mining, that protects the environment and with a social proposal focused on the development of people. “Dominga is a company from the region and our commitment is to the region,” he emphasized.

Currently, Dominga is awaiting the ruling of the First Court of Antofagasta, and maintains an important presence in the commune, supporting programs in favor of the employability and entrepreneurship of the neighbors.
